What a Waste on Impatience

We are ecstatic to have a new album, What a Waste, releasing soon. If it were up to us, we would be sharing the raw mixes as we get them, but there's always more to fix. We recorded it over four sessions just about every other Sunday beginning March 17th and ending May 3rd. Sessions generally went from 9am to 9pm with judicious breaks as needed. This was done at the home studio of Alex Gibson, who was a huge help in making the album what it is. Truthfully, I did not know we could sound so good. We recorded most of the tracks as a full band, playing through the songs as we do live, and then we tracked any necessary overdubs. In fact, all of the drum tracks were recorded the first day, with only hand percussion added on afterwards. Trent is a machine. The album should be released later this summer, barring any setbacks.

What will not be released this summer is a remastered version of our first recorded tracks, Demos. I don't know that we as a band will ever overcome the shame of that. Having no clue what to do, we recorded everything but the vocals live at the same time in a large room. There's so much bleeding you'd think it was a crime scene. The other trouble with Demos is that we recorded it on Carson's computer which has since been stolen. To my knowledge, no raw tracks exist of the album, and if I had to bet, the only versions of the songs that exist are online. Maybe it's for the best. Let the dead sleep.

All told, we have mixes for “Apocalypse Blues,” “Huffin' Sunshine,” and “Waiting and Hoping and Knowing,” with more expected soon. Shai-Hulud willing, the album will be out sooner rather than later and we can organize an album release party. Until then, we are set to play Bogg's Social and Supply on July 6th along with the immortal Boxman and the effervescent Fly-By Drivers, and we hope to see you there.
